There is something nourishing about this gorgeous film. Levy's writing is so smart, unsentimental, and more often about what isn't said. There's a sharp wit in this story, but also some tenderness for the feeling of losing the people we love.
Some excellent performances here carry that theme in the way the friends are so brutally honest and loving with each other. And there's an unexpected jewel in Celia Imrie's performance at the end. One of her finest. In a few seconds, she does what most actors can't in an hour or two.
The slick beauty of London and Paris' sparkly winters are done Justice too.
