A forgotten gem. All the hallmarks of a great director: well-cast and coached actors, tight cinematography, good music, brilliant montage, even ahead-of-their time special effects for the "dream sequence." It's a great story by Hecht, where the "dream" takes up most of the story, an "if only" story in the early years of the great depression. Also some intriguing lines with hints of the characters' reactions to the politics of the times.
