I’ve read this book four times now. It’s a collection of twelve stories set in different countries, nine of which are African countries.
The first, second, and third times I read the book, Kumba’s Sister, a story in the collection set in Sierra Leone, stood out for me. This time, it’s My Beloved Infidel. Probably because the story is set in Abuja, where I live. Places mentioned in the story — Gwarinpa, Katampe, Jabi — are places I know, and they make the story too real.
Reading Nnamdi Oguike’s book of stories feels like an adventure. Like some sort of globetrotting. The stories take you from Kenya to Uganda to South Africa to Brazil to Nigeria...
I should mention that Do Not It’s Not Your Country is an easy read, too.
