I didn't expect to enjoy this show as much as I did. Drifting really isn't my thing, but I love to drag race so anything motorsports is worth looking at.

I liked the way the eliminations went. I have seen some reviews where the reviewers question the fairness of the contestants who only got one shot at qualifying, but I'm guessing that there was more to the qualifying than what we as viewers saw. I'm guessing the fastest, most skilled racers got into the first few rounds and therefore had more chances to succeed. If I am correct about that, then they should have mentioned that the drivers had been pre-qualified during test and tune, course familiarization or whatever.
As far as the announcers go, I agree with the people who weren't impressed. Get rid of the MMA dude, he added nothing with his meathead comments. Rutledge Wood is ok, but he really doesn't have much actual technical knowledge, and it is apparent to people who are more well versed in automotive technology. My favorite was Mike Hill, although he probably knows even less about cars. He just wasn't as annoying.
I thought that the diversity of the drivers was very cool. There are some great drivers from all over the world in this show. None that I had ever heard of before, but there were some very talented drivers from several different racing disciplines. I learned a long time ago at the drag strip that females can and do drive fast! I was not surprised to see many of them do so well.
The challenges were all great to watch, but the drifters certainly had an advantage. The drag race cars didn't fare well, and that was a disappointment to me. Otherwise, I really enjoyed the obstacles and challenges that the drivers faced on the various courses. It all seemed to be very well engineered and thought out, right up until they smashed the car with the water cannon. I was glad to see the German lady was not seriously injured and that she got another chance later on.
The editing was pretty good. I liked the fact that they showed a lot of different angles during the runs. I'm not really into the whole backstory/biography aspect of things, I just want to hear a few words about their racing career and then turn them loose! I realize that I might be in the minority here, but I skipped through all of the "back home with the racer" scenes. I don't care about that stuff, I just wanna watch them race.
Overall, I was very impressed. I am looking forward to Season 2.
