Stunningly excellent movie with convincing and moving performances by Stephen Rea, Forest Whitaker, and Jaye Davidson. They were all robbed of Academy Awards for their performances here. The script of this film is pure gold. This film has one of the most shocking, jaw-dropping scenes I've ever witnessed. Please do yourself a favor and don't google the surprise. Beyond the shock value, this movie is beautiful, fascinating, and poignant. I think it is my favorite film of all time.

This is one of my favorite movies of all time. Gabriel Byrne gives an Oscar-worthy performance as the father of two young boys whose mother died during childbirth. The two boys in this movie are so heartbreakingly adorable. I don't know where the filmmakers found such young natural actors. The grandfather is also unforgettable. I won't give away the meaning of this white horse who appears specifically to these two young boys, but I will tell you that the ending had me sobbing. in fact, I wept at the sheer beauty and pathos of this incredible film from beginning to end. Hauntingly beautiful music and cinematography. I saw this movie at ten years old and it has never, ever left me. It has remained one of my all-time favorites. What a beautiful, magical film!

A vile, stomach-turning disaster of a film with absolutely no purpose other than to disturb and offend. Utterly unbelievable plot. I'm not saying that movies must have a sense of morality, but they should at least have a point. Spoiler Alert: The two women at the center of the grift surviving the impossible was so obscenely ridiculous on its face. From this point onward, the movie just becomes an eye-rolling farce.
