If you really followed the story line of the book you would see what a disappointment this was. The producers should have spent the money on staging what could have been an award winning presentation. The characters were under developed and key elements of the story were literally rewritten and out of context. Unfortunately this film got as messed up as Wolfe's other excellent novel, Bonfire of the Vanities.
