Ruth Venner

I was given a copy of this book in 2000, and had longed for it for some time having been lent a copy by a dear friend. Another dear friend took note of my joy in having the book on loan, and went online straight away and purchased a copy of the book for me. It is handsomely presented in its own box and lives on my bookshelf in my Studio. I am a Calligrapher myself and this book has been a source of inspiration, indeed I have made 12 copies of various pages from the book, using the style of lettering and general layout, but using my own words, and the images that go with my words. These 12 works were done between 2000 and 2012. It first came to my attention when Hermann Zapf told calligraphers that it was a most marvellous book, and well worth spending time perusing.
