I have spent the last week or so reading this astoundingly beautiful story.
I know it is a work of fiction but based on events that very probably occurred during World War II. It broke my heart that such misery was wrought on the people of France by the bullies of their captive government.
I did not expect the nearly constant tears at the last 50 pages.
Miss Hannah does so well to capture the history that is revealed in her novels. I still have many in her list to go, which I will relish.
