I must say that this movie was lovely to watch…if you don’t care much for good singing. The costumes and acting were excellent, but (and I really am sorry to say this) Emma Watson cannot sing. In every ballad, classic and new, there is a very obvious twang of an autotune that a musically inclined person cannot ignore. I wish they had cast an actress who can sing, as this is a Disney musical. However, Dan Stevens has a strong, rich baritone which makes up for some of Emma’s faults as well as a strong ensemble cast. Oh, and there is a scene with a disturbing plague doctor and implied death which was too much for my 8-year-old. Costumes :12/10 gorgeous Acting: 10/10 very entertaining Singing: 6/10 Emma, 9/10 everyone else CGI: 8/10 bc it’s gonna look dated fast All in all, pretty strong, would watch again maybe skipping some scenes for fear and poor singing.
