Massive paywall, P2W through getting gear. Of course, this game is nostalgic, but after about 3 hours, it hits you with the subscription. This is most likely the reason for the game's downfall right now. Steam charts states that W101 barely reaches a mere thousand players, not including the website downloaded players. Although servers seem to be crowded, there only appears to be 1-3 of them. If you are one that prefers to have games like this have a decently sized player-base, such as myself, this isn't the game for you. If you are looking at returning, and perhaps plan on grouping with players in dungeons and such, it just isn't going to work for you unless it is a popular dungeon. It is extremely saddening to me to see the state of this game right now, as it played a big part in my childhood, but the below-par player-base, the paywall, and the pay to win just isn't appealing to me, as I'm sure it isn't to anyone that doesn't feel like emptying their wallets for crowns. Don't get me wrong though, if you are willing to get past these flaws, the gameplay is otherwise extremely fun. The charming new graphics, and new worlds are very impressive.
