This is a racist book. "the white man's burden" is defined as the burden faced by white people to basically conquer and oppress the "inferior" people of color. There is no excuse for a book, poem, or any form of media or literature of this nature. This book spouts non-scientific, disproven, and extremely racist ideas and lies. However, this happened, people believed these ideas, and it's important that we recognize this rather than ignoring it. While this is true and it's important that we remember all of our history, there is no reason to give this book anything more than 1 star.
