The kids might enjoy it, but I walked away kind of disappointed. Moana's 'quirky' nature is turned up to 300 making her kind of annoying. That is nothing compared to her new crew mates though. They added nothing to the narrative other than making me want to roll my eyes every time one of them spoke. The story well...is there one? Maybe the same story as first movie, going beyond , just done a lot worse. Who is the villain? There are characters prominently featured in the trailers that sing a song half way thru and are never heard from again. Storylines that feel unfinished. The music was probably my biggest disappointment. It just felt lack luster and the songs did not add much to the narrative. It felt like the movie stopped for a few minutes so the song can happen instead of the songs being part of the story. The songs also felt very generic with no memorable melodies or lyrics. I felt like I was watching YouTube kids each time a song came on. I don't even know how to describe it. The only time the music felt epic was when they played parts of the music from the first movie. It reminded me a lot of Wish as it reached for epicness and failed.
