Great movie. Music was done very well, the singers brought their individual flair while respecting the original style and material. Many people in the reviews dislike this for vague culture war reasons and perhaps ignorance about the origins. It’s not Disney, the plot is straight from a book written in the 90’s and adapted to a musical in the early 2000’s, there is a racially diverse cast—but it’s oz, a land defined by tribalism between animals and humans, not by the human construct of race. If you like musical theatre and you want to hear excellent music and watch a very entertaining movie, you should love this!
