I really liked the novel. Followed the typical format for the starting book of a series. A bit of comical touch and gradually becomes full on serious.
Characters are designed really well.
While reading this book, sometimes the things were somewhat predictable, reminding me to focus on something more important than this book.
I have read her Six Of Crows duology, they are a gem, definitely read them if you haven't. But chronologically they are after these series. But not problem in reading them.
Right now I have read only the shadow and bone book and not the other two.
I did not feel the level of pull towards this book like I felt towards her six of crows duology or Rick Riordan's Percy Jackson or even his Heroes of Olympus. But I finished with chills on my skin all the time. There were instances where the scenes were so full of emotions, and many a times just like a turning point for the story that gave me chills. Definitely read it.
On goodreads, it is rated 4/5 but I would give it 4.2/5. Above four for definite worth a read and 0.2 for being a somewhat predictable book but more than that, being a completely unpredictable somewhere here and there in it.
The darkling was sort of suspicious to me, after analyzing his behavior.
