I really enjoyed the the first five seasons the most. The big reason for that was Kate Buffery. She was the most realistic female detective. After that the entire series changed. I tried to like Victoria Smurfit but found her acting skills lacking. She's just too uptight. The shows started lacking depth and and there was too much gore. Very different from Lynda Laplante's Prime Suspect with Helen Mirren which was one the best series ever. Lynda La Plante sold out acting talent for superficiality. The entire series had far too much shouting and hysterics throughout. Time to say goodbye to Britbox. I've watched all the older and better series too many times.

There's nobody that could fill the role of DCI Taggart as well as Mark McManus. He had expressions that spoke volumes. He was tough but fair to his fellow coppers. He was so watchable. His work relationships with Mike and Jackie were full and interesting, adding depth to the episodes. I really enjoyed his relationship with his wife Jean. They were conflicted which made it real. The writing was complex and often had surprise endings. I loved that Taggart called McVitie the Biscuit. Jackie was smart and showed an understanding of people. DC Stuart was methodical and a welcome addition to the crew. DI Robbie added upheaval as he was often a skirt chasing mess. DCI Burke took over for beloved Taggart and is a hard-nosed, one dimensional boss who interacts at a raised volume at all times. He has one mood and that's angry. I continue to watch it as Glasgow deteriorates into a dark underworld. It reflects a world that is becoming increasingly ugly. Still, it beats present day woke tv.

Scripts for television series have gone down hill. Plots have the same woke content that gets tedious because storylines have no variety. This is such an entertaining detective series. Every episode has a complex plot with a terrific cast of actors who make it seem very real. The Northern English scenery makes her working class background authentic. None of Hollywood's botoxed faces and ultra rich casting. 5/5

I watched this show one day not expecting much. I now look forward to it everyday. I envy the simplicity of country life, the love of animals, nature & family. It's all good acting with interesting storylines. The script is genuine, unpretentious with a feel good atmosphere. The family has dilemmas that most people can relate to. It makes me smile & it makes me cry. It's a welcome reprieve from the relentless woke, politicized agenda that bombards today's TV.

This book was on hold for months at the library. Very much in demand. It clarified the transgender craze affecting our teens & the heavily politicized school system. Kudos to the brave therapists, doctors, teachers and parents who spoke up. There is no other word for this mass hypnosis but harmful. The public school should stay focused on the ABCs & leave other people's children's sexuality alone. I'm ok with trans but what's happening to children is very suspicious. Excellent book.

I really enjoyed this period drama, especially season one. Bill Jones is is one incredible actor as Bert Middleton. Sorry to say but none of the successive Berts quite matched his acting ability. The scenery & costumes were very realistic. The first season was the most authentic & convincing. Season two was less convincing as it seemed the story had too many modern day values which are boring, even in today's world. Leave some things to the imagination. Again the strong female lead is getting over used. That's just not the way it was for women at that time.

I gave this mediocre series a try. The stories were simplistic and the characters appeared to be acting. They were over the top with emotion, lacking subtlety. I often fast forwarded, because the stories were predictable. The conflict between Annie and Helen was overdone, like oil and vinegar. The romance between Banks and Annie was added soap opera and unconvincing. The actors were not a good match.
