So basically the leaders on earth decide that, facing the most impactful event in human history, to send a ship full of millennials with no discernible skills to make contact and save the planet. They embark on this journey wearing random outfits from an Old Navy commercial, naturally, because uniforms are so 21st century. Meanwhile back on earth, three total people seem to be working on the project to understand an alien artifact, on of which keeps blathering in about pigeons for no apparent reason.
