I should begin this by saying I needed to read this for an 8th grade English class so I will naturally be biased. I do have some real reasons for disliking it though, that all of the main characters feel extremely stupid and unlikable when that probably wasn't intentional, there's blatant plot holes that completely shatter the narrative, the pacing in the second act was horrendous, far too many entire segments felt entirely filler, and a lot of the dialogue felt unnatural. There was one minor twist that I felt was very clever and well-executed if a little obvious, the author absolutely knocked it out of the park with the symbolism, and I don't have a single problem with the third act but that does not save it from a one star review. This was a complete waste of my time and I would not recommend it to anyone who values their hope for humanity.
