I personally enjoyed this piece. I've watched quite a bit of films since quarantine and at some point I end up tuning out as I've "seen this narrative before". This particular film, wasn't that. It was a simple plot with zero spoonfeeding to the audience. I feel like films these days pander to their audience. The Midnight Sky carries itself elegantly with many quiet emotional moments we get to share with the characters. I was captivated all the way through. This is not an action film nor a grip the edge of your seat. It is exactly, unapologetically, an artistic story that asks you to step back with an open mind. The only critique are that some points of the story, mainly the flashbacks, that feel disjointed from the overall narrative.
