Was longing for a movie like Maestro!
It was Oscar-winning acting by Cooper, and especially Milligan. Cooperโs role of a world famous conductor was a tougher interpretation to deliver than Mulliganโs role. Cooper mastered it admirably, perhaps a little too eagerly?!? But I never met Bernstein personally, so I loved Cooperโs acting in every aspect & appreciated his personal effort to play this intriguing personality, living between musical perfectionism & emotional turmoils.
Mulligan was probably more her natural self in her acting role as Bernsteinโs wife. Just beautiful to watch her as there was nothing edgy or critique-worthy in her part that could prevent an Oscar.
I wondered about earlier critiques of the movie & watched it twice, not changing my opinion. Any close-to-biographical interpretation may leave something to wish forโฆ especially if we never met the subject personally.
