This book is long, very long, but never boring. Following four generations and experiencing how their lives grow, evolve and in some cases, intertwined, was fascinating. I listened to the author read as I followed along in the book, which, for me, was the best experience. Having the author read the words gave me a better understanding. The book is very thought provoking as new characters are introduced and later aligned with main characters. Water is a constant focus, whether as a necessity for crops, or as a phenomenon that needs to be explored. I hope there will be a sequel.
