The series itself is okay if it was a stand alone and not supposed to be based on a book. This is not just a case of “the book is better.”Unfortunately, it is absolutely not the same story. The only similarities are the names of the characters. The joy, pain, emotion and depth of the book characters are completely lost. In an effort to make the series contemporary, the series creators have put too much emphasis on dragging the characters down rather than just letting them have their flaws. The connections within the relationships were completely removed. I was incredibly disappointed.
