I'm not a fan of the franchise, and was wondering how many King Kong, Kong and Ape movies can saturate movie audiences before going ... bananas. I was entertained. Edge of my seat, invested in the characters, not having an internal dialog about how dumb the situations are. None of that. Just completely absorbed in the film. At the end *spoiler* name dropped my home town. It was good, really good, and I hope it does well, and gets the sequel.
