Heartworm is a game made with genuine love for the genre. While I may be a bit biased, itโs clear that Vincent Adinolfi, his incredibly talented team of developers, and publisher DreadXP have created something truly special.
This is a beautiful, melancholic experience that serves as a heartfelt love letter to late '90s survival horror. It's deeply atmospheric, psychologically driven, and packed with everything longtime fans of the genre will appreciate. The music and aesthetics are absolutely on point, evoking that haunting, nostalgic feeling that defined the classics.
If I had one critique, it would be that the fixed camera angles, while authentic to the era, can sometimes make character movement feel a bit clunky. During transitions, pushing in the direction you are going may occasionally send Sam in an unintended direction due to the sudden perspective shift. Itโs a minor issue, but worth mentioning. Aside from that, Heartworm is a genuinely beautiful and thoughtful experience. If you love classic survival horror, this is a must play.
