Death is absurd—it doesnt punish the bad for being bad, or invite the good to heaven. There is no such plan or 'great design'. Death is random and indiscriminate.
We live, we love (and are loved), and we die. When those who remember and love us die, no one remembers us. Those we love will too die and be forgotten.
"But the love will have been enough; all those impulses of love return to the love that made them."
Love is the meaning of our lives. It is of no importance whether our love goes on or not: it is enough to love.

Beautifully written novel, very personal, relatable and vivid. It meticulously details the lives of 5 people who died abruptly (all of whom, coincidentally or not, were on the verge of experiencing a major change in their lives/beginning anew). Each individual is given so much life and heart, its heartbreaking knowing their lives end. I think each of their stories will haunt me in their own different ways for a long time.
Sometimes can be quite wordy though and difficult to understand imo.
