A significant film set in the early 1970s, primarily about the Naxal movement but also about urban migration and poverty, caste, feudalism and the elections that led to the four-decade communist hold over West Bengal. Paid political goons, trafficking of women, urban decay, the film explores issues that have been rarely retold as cinema. It is a historical film that looks at all these subjects and also the land reforms that improved the lives of poor cultivators in West Bengal.
