I must say, I find it perplexing when someone claims that this movie lacks interest or doesn't meet expected quality standards. After witnessing the immense popularity of "Jagun Jagun" in Nigeria, and all over the world and experiencing the anticipation myself, I now understand the buzz surrounding the film.
The opening scene, featuring a picturesque mountain adorned with greenery, beautifully showcased the beauty of the natural African landscape. We were introduced to the main characters, notably Lateef Adedimeji(Gbotija) and the compelling villain Femi Adebayo(Ogundiji), whose horseback entrance was strikingly portrayed.
I couldn't help but admire the performances of both Adedimeji and the antagonist Femi Adebayo. However, some aspects of the movie felt rushed, possibly due to production constraints or a desire to maintain concise storytelling.
The portrayal of love between Kiitan(Bukunmi Oluwashina) and Gbotija was poignant and unexpected, particularly when it was later revealed that Kiitan was the 'Agemo'(a swift assassin masquerade). The movie fighting scenes were commendable, exhibiting exceptional choreography and intensity, especially during the encounters with the Oshun worshippers in the village of Alaje kingdom
Despite its strengths, the film had its flaws. Some certain characters, lacked depth and development, perhaps due to time constraints. The makeup effects, such as the depiction of a burnt character, were convincing and added to the realism of the story.
I couldn't help but notice Lateef Adedimeji's consistent limp throughout the movie, which he later attributed to leg injuries during production. Additionally, the static crocodiles in the water during Ogundiji's feeding scene were a noticeable flaw.
The storytelling felt somewhat disjointed at times, with cryptic plot elements only becoming clear later on. While the focus on martial action and supernatural powers was captivating, it overshadowed character development and narrative depth.
Despite its flaws, "Jagun Jagun" remains a captivating cinematic experience with stunning cinematography, those fighting scenes are so brillianty done, commendable direction, and a talented cast and crew. It's a movie worth watching.
And someone should help me tell Ibrahim Yekini to apologize for insulting the viewers.😄
