A perfect way to do a music biopic. Pick a specific time in the artists career and focus on that, not the entire life of the artist. I wouldn’t think you need to be a Dylan fan to enjoy it but it certainly helps. I’m more a fan of his later works but this made me appreciate the early records that I tend to ignore. You get a glimpse of how it all came to be and the epic Dylan-gone-electric moment that was an important moment in music history. Chalamet does an incredible job embodying Dylan right down to his selfishness and arrogance like most other popular young musicians who act like they know much more than they do. They didn’t candy coat the history and I appreciate that. The film enabled me to go back, re-listen and appreciate those early recordings so much more. For those that don’t know Dylan this is the perfect introduction.

All-star cast with some funny moments. Too many jokes that don’t land but one of the better comedy’s that have come out lately. It isn’t a classic but it’s not terrible either.

I remember the previews when this came out and it looked good. It took me 24 years to finally watch it and boy was I disappointed. I remember it getting bad reviews back in the day and I thought “how can that be? It’s got Damon and Will Smith!” Oh to be young again. The Will Smith character doesn’t make sense nor is he ever explained. It’s all a build up to nothing. What you think happens will happen. It’s pretty and glamorous but goes nowhere.

Not good. Bad acting, bad script, anticlimactic and laughable. Embarrassing-feel-good attempts destroyed by corny dialog being read right off the page. I made it almost halfway through the final episode and couldn’t take it anymore. Remember when Netflix had so much great content? There was a time… it’s just one let down after another anymore.
