contains spoilers: The plot and story line are ripe and perfectly suited in terms of the current events occurring right now - the pandemic - and it illustrates how people react to a global pandemic of apocalyptic proportions. The story jumps back and forth from pre-pandemic (past) to during the pandemic (past) and post-pandemic (current- approximately 15-20 years after the pandemic wiped out most of the population). In that sense the show exhibits a very familiar representation of what we went through during the last 2 covid years 2020-2021. Post-pans or kids that were born after the pandemic tend to be whimsical and clueless to real dangers of a post-apocalyptic world. I loved the flashbacks and time-play. And I loved the quirky storylines of each character. My main gripe is the annoyingness of Himesh Patel's anxiety-filled character in episode 1 when he chose not to explain the brevity of the pandemic to the uber-intelligent 8 year old Kirsten, who is played by Matilda Lawler, who gave one of the best performances on the show. Also the Severn City episode, when the young Tyler brought the sole airplane survivor into the airport who was then immediately shot by the former security guard, it's just un-realistic how that played out, only to be used as the villain-birth story for Tyler who would eventually grow up to be The Prophet. I love how the characters are innately intertwined through their involvement in the life of Arthur Leander and through the illustrated story written by Miranda. Danielle Deadwyler gave a thrilling performance of Miranda. I gave 3 stars, would give 3.5 , wasn't quite a 4, some parts just seemed overly unrealistic to me. But in the name of art and a good story, I was etntertained.
