Very effective film showing how small and massive examples of male aggressive and exploitative behaviour impact on women, based around the real life case of a serial killer who doesn't stand out that much from the prevailing culture of the 70s. What makes the film so good is you actually feel the weight of what's happening to the characters. Great directorial debut.

Engrossing drama with the stellar Jenna Coleman. Dark but leavened with moments of humour

There aren't that many poignant and witty action films but this is certainly that. And beautifully filmed too. London has seldom looked better. Jason does very well here. Not the best PR for Nuns in general but the Sister is an excellent character played with great charm.

Funny and secretly kind hearted movie.

Stunning film on the early years of cinema. It prints the legend but does so with a dark beauty that is beguiling. Great performances and moments of inspired madness including a descent into hell scene that David Lynch would would take some pleasure from.

A quiet apocalypse movie, a genre that is always fascinating. Jodie Comer is excellent as always playing a character who grows in complexity as the film goes on. Ultimately a love story in bleak but not hopeless surroundings.

Rattles along like a film from the 1940s but with all the flash technique of today. Based on a true story and enhanced by an excellent cast. You don't need to care about poker to enjoy the ride. Molly's blooming great!

Highly entertaining cartoonish action movie full of outlandish characters played by excellent actors. If Tarantino was possessed by a demon pokemon then this would be the result.

Dark, horror fantasy drama, like the Wicker Man with less music and considerably more gore. Well acted. Nobody does mad preachers better than Michael Sheen. Worth a watch.

Uneven but magical drama. Full of heart and humour. The story should feel far fetched but certainly this week it doesn't. We are the angry mob.
