Disney’s Snow White remake was just… not it. The original had this dreamy, timeless magic, but this version felt like a lecture instead of a fairy tale. It stripped away everything that made the story special and tried way too hard to be “modern” while completely missing the point of why Snow White worked in the first place. First off, Snow White is supposed to be a contralto-soprano, and they just threw that out the window. Her voice in the original was so distinct and added to her charm, but here? Nope. She didn’t have that same warmth or ethereal quality, which made her way less captivating. And the storyline? It didn’t feel like a fairy tale anymore. Instead of embracing what made Snow White iconic, they gutted the originality and replaced it with something that felt like a preachy, watered-down version of a Disney movie. It was like they were scared to let the story just be what it was meant to be. The one thing I did love? The Evil Queen the acting choices for her were on point, and she was honestly more interesting than Snow White herself. Overall, this remake was a letdown. They took a classic and overcomplicated it, losing the magic in the process. But hey, at least the Evil Queen did great.

I love this movie, just like many others who have been waiting for 9 years for this day. Although the movie presents a different story that may not be entirely accurate to the original lore, I appreciate it for creating its own unique lore. This film has brought many people together, bridging differences in how they view the source material. I believe the movie is primarily based on the first 3 books, and I don't mind the director's approach. All the actors involved put in incredible effort, and it shows. While watching the movie, there were moments of uncertainty that left me anxious to know what happens next, and I loved that aspect. The movie also does a great job portraying the animatronics and the characters' traumas. I particularly enjoyed the scene where they all build a fort, as it showcases a moment of peace among them.
