Overrated slop. This series has so much potential but they just waste it with over the top , cheesy kills and a nonsensical story. With a good director, it could be a modern 80s classic , but unfortunately the wannabe avante gard horror hipsters already have decided this is too “cool!” to re-examine . I’m sure the director knows it’s slop but, hey, the moneys coming in, keep the cameras rolling! Don’t fall for the noise; just a bunch of critics and wanna be movie buffs agreeing it’s good because someone else did . The second movie is the best in the series, and that was just a decent watch with glimpses of something that could be special. The first is unwatchable . The third is meh, nail in the coffin. Get this franchise in the hands of a horror vet please!

One of the best movies I've ever watched, hands down. Excellent pacing and story. The message is powerful and relatable. Just watched this and Rocky 1 & 2 yesterday, and this is to me a horror classic. It's not a "scary" horror, more along the lines of The Invitation; a slow, but captivating watch. It's like a good book you can't put down because you want to see why and what is unfolding! Give it a watch, seriously

Big horror and comedy fan, honestly after reading the reviews, I was expecting this movie to be a really fun watch. Turns out this was one of the very few times the reviews and scores led me astray. One word for the film would be DECENT. I'm not a critic at all, and if the acting is good and the plot is fun, I can enjoy a movie without needing much else. But the acting was pretty stale, the writing was okay but the way the actors delivered their lines they all came across like it was the first or second time acting in a feauture film. The plot also drags on and I'm not exagerating when I say that much of the films run time is filled with boring dialogue between the characters that add nothing to the story and online serve to drag it out. I found myself skipping lots of it to get to the good parts, which, honestly, were few and far in between. Two stars because there are a few, and I mean very few, scenes where the script and actors shine, and overall, it's a good movie to watch passingly in the background if you're bored as hell and don't believe the raving reviews going into it. A movie that is similar that actually deserves the great reviews it gets is "The Perfect Host" starring David Hyde Pierce.. one of the best movies I've ever seen and sort of same themes of mystery, horror and comedy.
