From the perspective of screenplay, dialogues and acting, the film was brilliant to watch and the originality and authenticity of Malayalam cinema was there for everyone to watch. Urvashi and Parvathy stood out with their powerful performances. Hats off to Christo Tomy for providing them the roles and the space for them to showcase their acting prowess.
But from the perspective of what the movie seems to convey, I could not connect with the message or what the film maker was trying to say. Morality, as portrayed in the movie, is not a spectrum. Some actions are wrong, irrespective of the circumstances. Adultery is wrong, irrespective of the marriage being forced or not. Concealing the truth about your son's health from a prospective bride and her family is wrong, irrespective of the circumstances. The film failed to showcase both the actions as clearly wrong and on the contrary, tries to "empathize" with the "victims", i.e Parvathy and Urvashi.
It sends a dangerous message to impressionable viewers that adultury and dishonesty are apparently OK and understandable under certain circumstances. It is the last thing that our society, which is becoming more superficial and materialistic by the day, needs to hear.
