This was my favorite of all the Armored Space Marines genre. It goes deeply into the psyche of the characters, so that they become very real people. The abrupt shift in perspective in the middle of the book to what seems to be a completely different protagonist originally threw me, but it makes the story SO much better! It's definitely for mature readers only. These are NOT the kind of people you want your kids hanging around with, and the deep dive into the motivational factors is what makes the characters so real.

As a Cis pastor who loves people this was difficult to watch. It made me very uncomfortable and that is a GOOD thing. It SHOULD make me uncomfortable and it should make all of us angry. To ever create a 'ministry' that does anything other than tell people they are loved and created in the very image of GOD is heresy. These types of organizations are responsible for the deaths of many of it's followers and they need to repent and work for the healing of the church. For me, I am going to work for the shutting down of the ex-gay ministries that are still in operation. - Starr Reardon (UCC pastor)
