This is a seemingly disturbing yet so enchanting wonderfully directed film, which was put to it's perfection by casting a gifted actor like Alex Lawther as the hero, Billy.
This film tells us about the inner turmoils of a teenager, who boldly challenges the ancient norms of gender appearances that has been proudly followed by the society so far, his struggles and fights for his existence as his real self. This film has a real life ambience that is slightly powdered with a little bit glitter of show business, probably for a commercial success. But it still tells you the truth, in a way that is raw and uncut or let me just say, as true as it is.
It shows us how reluctant the world is still to accept the people who are even a slight bit defferent from the pretold, blimpish, society of so called "normal" people. This story has an expected, depressing, twist in the end, that will make you furious enough to read my previous line with the exact sarcasm as i meant.
As far as the direction goes, i don't know about you, but this film had a strange ability of making me forget about my existence, and to be in the movie itself as an invisible being curiously observing each and every twists and turns. I was so enthrald by it's mesmerising storyline.
Its a short, quick beautiful film. I'm sure it will challenge ur vision of the world as it is. And may even question you about who you would rather be...? Hater...? Supporter...? Watch it. Rate it. And i can promise you that, It will be one hell of an experience...!
