I thought it was a very beautiful movie and well made. Each character having to deal with a struggle that, for the movie, was organic and natural and not fabricated or 'forced'.
It's not a "West Side Story" and shouldn't even be compared.
and to the racists that say "If your not Latino you have no right to review" need to shut there racists mouth.
If you grew up poor, had to work at a young age or had parents that gave up a lot to see you through school then this movie will resonate and you can see yourself in these characters. Regardless of skin color.
The theme of the movie is stated at the very beginning "Que quiere decir Suenito" translation What does Suenito mean? to which the answer is it means "Little Dream" and from there the movie does an amazing job of not only explaining but showing as well.
The Latino culture presented in the movie was organic and natural, not forced down your throat like a lot of movies do.
The songs and dancing was enjoyable and in my opinion not cheesy.
If you have HBO Max I say give the movie a shot, if not this would make a perfect date movie.
