Absolutely astonishing series, utterly harrowing with some incredible acting. Ruth Wilson is of course the standout, along with Hilda Fay and the group of laundry survivors. I've not seen many shows about Irish laundries, and this prompted me to research more and remind myself of the horrors women suffered there. Some elements were a tiny bit heavy-handed and almost went towards silliness, but Ruth held it all together. Some brilliant twists and turns and so many layers to the story, which made this totally addictive. It was also surprisingly funny in moments, with a dark humour which rings true when people try to remain stoic in the face of huge trauma.

Hugely entertaining, in-your-face, camp, empowering...the list goes on. It's filled with criticism of patriarchy which explains the salty men here giving one star reviews. It's a perfect blend of total silliness and surprisingly subtle/clever humour. Ryan Gosling was an absolute stand out but the whole cast were amazing. My partner also loved it, it's not just for gals! My advice: laugh your head off in the cinema, come home, glass of wine, laugh your head off again at reviews from men who hate the "go women" message.
