Omg I have just LOVED this series from beginning to end! I’ve laughed and cried and been moved beyond words in so many scenes. Everything about this show radiates the love created by the incredible charismatic leads, cast, Director and crew.
It is not just the fun and adventures that draw you into these intertwined stories of the characters, but those precious moments of silence where our two main leads are by themselves in introspection, dealing with their overwhelming attraction and love for each other and all the challenges of life and family. What was particularly moving was Gong Yoo’s character coming to terms with the fact the person he was attracted to was a “man”, and finally residing himself that he could no longer run away from his feelings or love for “him”. The acting in that scene when he finally kisses “him” is so incredibly moving and beautiful. Gong Yoo reveals the vulnerability and gentleness of his on screen character flawlessly, along with his beautiful, androgynous counterpart Yoon Eun Hye.
One travels the journey with these two, through many twists and turns, with the revelation his love is actually a girl. Their chemistry portrayed is just timeless and flawless. Their playing, goofing off, fighting and loving just depicts the gorgeous love and bond between the two characters. I loved that they showed the perfections and flaws, yearnings, insecurities, passion and desires for each other and life.
There is a joy that is contagious throughout every minute of this series. Coupled with a gorgeous soundtrack ( even though alot of it is not in English but I don’t care as I get the concept in Korean) and great visuals. Every actor and actress played their role superbly. This series could be watched over and over…. ♥️ so many issues in society are touched upon with grace and honesty and whether this was 2007 or 2023 makes no difference as these are still issues we confront in every day life.
As I work in the field of Human Rights education, I believe it is a series that uplifts us all and reminds us that love is love, no matter the sexual orientation, class, religion or cultural background. That love can bring about a profound change in another or others. And… no matter what obstacles we encounter in love and life, love and hope always find a way.♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
