Ask yourself a question.
What kind of Star Wars person are you?
Maybe you saw one of the originals when it came out, or maybe at a friend's house.
Maybe you scour the interweb for lore and facts to bore your friend to death with.
This review caters to the latter.
Let's start with the Characters.
Rey is an all-around lazy and unlikable character. She is boring. She has the easiest path to becoming a Jedi. This story caters to be her every need. Need to heal a space snake? Boom, instant Force-healing.
Finn and Poe are meaningless side characters. That's it. You can see the grimacing in Poe's face when he reveals the fact that Palpatine lived (I'll get to that later). D-O is a useless droid, it's solely purpose being to sell merchandise to kids (and maladjusted adults). Leia's death is cheap and hastily thought. Yes, I know that Carrie died, but still. Death from force-communication? Uh okay? Hux being the spy? Please stop? Palpatine returning? Kill me now.
First off. Vader's character arc ended with him killing off Sheeve, thus redeeming himself. Bringing him back is a garbage excuse for a plot line. We're just gonna ignore the fact that he fell into a tunnel of PURE ENERGY. And then went kablooey. Why? Cocomelon could have written a better story. Palpatine being Rey's gramps? She seems like a Sith lord anyway. Why does Ren try to crash his ship into hers? Just shoot her, man. Why is the final battle so, so stupid. Like the ships need a conveniently unarmed control tower to tell what's up and down? It's just so, so stupid.
CGI is good though. It's only redeeming quality.
My recommendation. Watch it, because it is sadly canon. Then go to bed and rethink your life. Maybe pick up a hobby or two.
Peace out
