The story is very disconnected, there is no proof or justification of most of the scenes. Just ending a movie with another movie's starting scene doesn't make it a prequel. It seems more like a parody and less like a horror movie. No jump scares because obviously you are trying to just make sense of what is going on. Also, they did such a bad job that didn't try to justify the movie name, until the very end; its just an unrelated snarky comment.
