PIXAR missed the mark badly. A really disappointing movie that ruins the Buzz Lightyear character that we all know and love from the Toy Story franchise. In this movie, Buzz is not the familiar galactic hero voiced by Tim Allen. Instead, we get a vastly different and incompetent Buzz Lightyear with lots of hair, and instead of saving the day, he screws up and maroons everyone on a hostile planet and spends the entire movie failing over and over to complete his mission to save everyone. The story is too complicated for children to understand, as time dilation's affect on aging and traveling back in time to meet oneself are not concepts children (and lots of grown-ups) can easily comprehend. The plot twist on who Zurg actually is totally confused all the children in the audience. Buzz is both the hero and the villain? Kids don't understand this mess of a story. The pacing was slow and things were overly repetitive and boring. I know people are complaining about the lesbian kiss being inappropriate for a children's movie, but even without that, the story was just uninteresting and too confusing and sophisticated for the target audience. This is not the Buzz Lightyear character from the Toy Story franchise that I wanted to see. Sox the cat was the only entertaining part of the movie. Everything else was just garbage.
