Rose Driscoll

I didn’t come out raving about this film. I was disappointed and felt it was half an hour too long. It was interesting and Shakespearean only Shakespeare did it better. I didn’t warm to any of the characters. It was funny, it had its moments of clarity when the main protagonist asks “Do I fit in here?” There was too little redemptive quality to it and both families showed a naivety about their actions. The nasty smell that pervaded the film’s narrative never went away indeed it was part of the barrier that divided the haves and have nots. Nothing was learnt but maybe I’m missing something. I just know I came away wondering what the fuss was all about.
