Disclaimer: I’ve followed Bo Burnham’s for over a decade since his days of YouTube stardom, so I’ve always rooted for him. He is creative, smart, and talented in similar way to Dave burd, and this his magnum opus thus far. I watched it last night and was absolutely blown away by it. Within 9 minutes, I was aware that I was watching a genius at work. It is among the most creative works of art I’ve ever seen - probably on par with Hamilton for level of sheer creativity. The fact that he did that of this himself is just bananas. The music production is phenomenal, the lyrics are so intelligent, the concept and execution rock, and the cinematography and lighting is unbelievable. For one person to have that level of aptitude with all of those thing is just impressive. I’m not sure what accolades this will qualify for, but I sincerely hope it wins whatever they may be. There’s a very reasonable chance that this marks a turning point in bo burnham’s career and paces the way for him to become a household name in the same way that Hamilton did for Lin Manuel Miranda.
