it could have been a good film if they had actually brought the original to life by staying true to the original. if they wanted a black ariel, fine, but at least give her beautiful red hair and red lipstick, that was a signature look for ariel that made her pop, but the hair they had on the mermaid looked so messy and a brown orange color. definitely not a fan of awkwafina being in the movie, i had enough of her raspy high pitch annoying voice. and it makes no sense to have mermaid daughters of every race and skin color when the king is latin and the queen is black, it just makes it look like he had multiple baby mommas. not to mention the kings hair and beard were way too dark, the original had mostly white beard hair and bc of this the and a gold crown really stood out. oh, and he also had pretty tan skin with nice abs and muscular chest, where was this in the remake? . i was not a fan of melissa as ursula either, i can't take her seriously in a more serious role, they could have picked someone with a more witch like face as well. the nose was completely off
