As a "Homes Kid", this was a bitter sweet read. I could relate to a lot of it, however, I wasn't incarcerated as long as Kate but just like Kate, leaving Burnside was like jumping from the frying pan into the fire. If you think your childhood was tough, perhaps after reading this book you may feel better. Written from the heart by a true survivor.👏🙌

This was the first time I had heard of Fran Lebowitz. I found her a fascinating individual and have followed her ever since. She is candid, funny and pulls no punches. Refreshing!
