My kid liked it and that's what matters but as a long time viewer of the franchise, it was a tad hokey. Scenes were repetitive in violent nature so there was no serious build up of fear considering the "near fatal" encounters were sub par to previous films. I'd honestly wait until it comes out to go see if you've not gone yet.
