It’s not an accurate biography but it is a brilliant cinematic masterpiece (okay maybe overstating it a bit but definitely very, very good), Ana de Armas is an incredible actress who takes you on a rollercoaster ride of emotions through out the film. You have to realize that her challenge was to portray Normajean playing Marilyn experiencing various degrees of traumas. I went in skeptical and mistrustful that she could even come close to accurately portraying a legend but after the first 10 minutes of her performance I was lost believing I was actually watching Marilyn and very appreciative of her amazing acting skill.
I had trouble with the graphic content of the Kennedy scene. Initially I found it disgusting and unnecessary and beneath her performance and the performance of the film, but if you are objectively critical and take away any notions of any romanticized attributes in their real-life relationship you realize this was a very disturbing sexual-affair, (particularly as it relates to Jacklyn Kennedy) and I believe (I'd like to believe) that, the intent of the scene, was to illustrate the grossness and vulgarity of their relationship. Let's face it Kennedy was not a pillar of morality.
Reading all the reviews, I would say that the film extracted an emotional reaction from everyone and that is good thing. That's what a film is supposed to do. It was definitely not boring or badly made even the graphics were astonishing. It is a very unique film, an exceptional performance and a surprising and refreshing version of an icon .
