One of the best. WWII First-Person Shooter featuring large scale (50v50) area control oriented battles usually lasting 1-2 hours. Minimal HUD and usually 1-2 hits to kill. Class specializations and a communication hierarchy requires and rewards teamwork.
Approaches more of a tactical simulator. Expect a slower pace, steep learning curve and watch some tutorial videos first. Teams sort into usually 6 player squads. Be ready to accept direction from more experienced players, not because you have to, but because you'll have more fun. The start of a round often involves loading up in a truck and riding for a minute to reach the front line while planning the attack. Officers must place spawn points, and objective locations change on different rounds of the same map. Map reading is useful to identify structures, trenches, wheat fields, and other cover to effectively approach or defend an objective. When one hit doesn't kill, bandaging is needed to prevent bleeding out. Friendly fire is always on. Tanks have separate driver, gunner, and spotter seats and they deliver devastating firepower when coordinated, but are near useless solo.
If that sounds unappealing then don't buy it. Nearly all the 1-star reviews can be summed up as lacking the patience to get good. It's far more complex than CoD or BF games and slightly less so than Squad. No killcam, no 360 jumping no-scope, no neon camo. No mindlessly running through fire, taking several shots, sliding to cover, and then automatically healing.
For those interested in starting a long journey towards one of the most rewarding experiences in FPS history with hundreds if not thousands of hours of replay value, you owe it to yourself to try this game.
