A profoundly challenging, interesting and engaging film. It requires attention and intention and engagement. Easy dismissal (as revealed in most of these reviews) is the easy way out and reminds me of the first responses to Apocalypse 45 years ago. It's not a popcorn and soda movie... sorry. I fully believe that if we as a culture live with it a while, and see it again and again (which unfortunately at the moment doesn't seem possible) it will reveal itself as the work of genius I consider it to be. It is a deep reflection on our human past, present and future; a look at the tragic side of our current political and cultural reality while pushing the intellectual envelope of what you can consider and what you can take in. It ain't pop culture! It is profound artistic analysis of our world, our minds, our potential, our tragedies and our triumphs. It DEMANDS thought... it demands attention and consideration. It is certainly not mass entertainment (go see Superman). It is true cinematic art from our greatest living director.
