I see so many one star reviews on here that are either left by bots or mockingbird. The irony is that these one star reviews in themselves validate the films premise. If so many of these people thought the film was so horrid, it's because they missed the point. The confusion mentioned in some reviews is in fact part of the plot, and is even referenced in the film towards the end. As for the character development, it is back and forth throughout the movie because in a realistic apocalyptic situation human nature would indeed demonstrate mistrust, which is also referenced several times. As for the racial undertones, the history of our country speaks for itself, and for some, (especially well-off individuals) the inferiority complex may surface in a way that is deemed discriminatory. However, as they struggle, they realize that to survive, they must unite as human beings despite superficial differences and accept each other as they are. All of this, underlined by the fact that the Obamas themselves executive produced it and the atmospheric cinematography, make this a film worth watching. Beware though, it is deeply unsettling, and the ending is intended to punctuate the entire plot. The point of the film is the lack of controlling outcomes, a concept that we as a species have come to take for granted. I highly recommend this film. Then ask yourself, what would you do?
