3.5 This was a great series, don't get me wrong! It got me through some tough times in my freshman year. It was a bit hard to pick up at first, but once I discovered the amazing character that Celaena was, and from an assassin's point of view, the first book was fantastic! But then things started changing, the characters and plots alike. Then there was too much going on at once. The main character was starting to feel like a video game protagonist being chosen to fulfill every prophecy... First, she's an assassin cool, then she's the lost princess what(?) and now she has magic powers on top of it? These books were really good, I do think that, but it just would have been better if these books were fashioned into multiple series rather than one. The first book was (again) great, but by the time the last book rolled around, it didn't even feel like the same story or characters. And whatever happened to the talking door ringer thing? Mort? Who else remembers him? I strangely loved him and his snotty remark, he was a small character in the story and only featured in what(?) one book(?) but he was lovable and will forever be missed...
